We are experienced in erecting the main types of newt and reptile fencing used currently, these include timber stakes supporting either plastic sheet (as recommended in Natural England’s Great Crested Newt mitigation guidelines - 2001), or the slightly more durable woven Mypex, and also the ultra hard-wearing Herpetosure fencing.

To aid with the captures and translocation programmes we also supply and install pitfall traps and various types of refugia. Specialist habitat management is required to deliver the aims of Natural England’s newt mitigation guidelines.  We regularly undertake habitat improvements, planting, hibernacula creation and pond creation works to ensure that these guidelines are followed.

Destructive searches are used regularly as the final means of ensuring sites are free from reptiles and amphibians and other protected species – for more information please visit our destructive searches page.

We can also provide advice on how best to manage your site for the benefit of protected species.
