Knighton Countryside Management Ltd have worked for Dorset County Council since 2011.
Work for DCC falls into a number of categories. As tree surgeons, we are the main contractor called on for emergency tree work. This includes removing storm damaged trees from the highways as well as from pedestrian areas. If storms are forecast than we activate our emergency response plan, which allows for round the clock coverage across the region with full office support.
Knighton are often the first point of contact for any accidents involving trees. Our teams are used to working with the emergency services when required.
In addition, we carry out planned tree works. This year we have undertaken a major programme of planned night work clearing vegetation from the A338, which included felling. The area is ecologically sensitive and falls within an SSSI and we were able to provide teams of Arborists with foremen who have worked extensively on our Ecology based projects.
Knighton Countryside Management Ltd provide vegetation control services for the County Council. We carry out weed control annually on the Weymouth relief road. We have extensive experience in Invasive Species Control, such as Himalayan Balsam, Japanese Knotweed, Giant Hogweed and Rhododendron. Because we understand all these disciplines our staff have a clear knowledge of the dangers of cross contamination and the need to be ecologically aware, which makes us the ‘go to’ choice for the council when multi skilled teams are needed.
Knighton Countryside Management also undertake work on the Historic Landscapes around Dorset. Recent works include the installation of stock fencing, gates and cattle grids around the Hardy Monument, work carried out for the County Council in conjunction with the National Trust and to strict Natural England Specifications.
